TRANSLATE INDESIGN

FAST AND ACCURATE TRANSLATION OF AN INDESIGN FILE

Translating InDesign files

Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing program (DTP) for print media and digital publications. The file format .INDD isn’t suitable for text editing and translation, but can be converted into .IDML format. This file can be translated quickly and carefully bu AgroLingua, without affecting the original format. The graphic designer can then re-import the translated file into InDesign.

Translating InDesign files: a profession in its own right

The .IDML files to be translated contain only text, which means the translator can’t always be sure of the context. This is why we always ask for a PDF version of the InDesign document, so that the context and the relationship to the image elements are clear. The publication may be about any conceivable subject, so translators must be familiar with the content as well. That’s why AgroLingua only uses translators with an affinity for the subject matter in question. They have a good command of terminology, can formulate texts efficiently and turn them into easy to read publications.

When translating InDesign files, you must also take formatting into account. A translation that is too long can, for example, cause a text to run outside of the frame, or cut off words in the wrong way. This would obviously result in an extremely unprofessional product. At AgroLingua, the translators will take this into account during the translation process. We can also check proofs and PDF versions of the final result for any text or layout errors.
